E-waste Beware: New Shredder Is Big & Hungry

Electronic Recyclers International (ERI), launched its new e-waste shredder, which is the largest and most efficient shredder of its kind in North America.

Fresno Mayor Alan Autry and other local business leaders launch ERI's new e-waste shredder. The new shredding system can process the widest range of e-waste possible. Weighing in at over 120,000 pounds and with a gaping jaw of 42 square feet, your old computer will quiver at the sight of this 900 horsepower goliath. It’s hungry too: the shredder can process over 20,000 pounds of e-waste per hour.

“Our business has grown so quickly, and the demand for responsible recycling of electronic waste, on a national level, is so great, it was time for us to grow to the next level with our technology,” said John S. Shegerian, ERI’s Chairman and CEO. “This new shredder system enables us to handle tremendous capacity while allowing room for future growth.”

ERI’s new shredder system can handle virtually anything with a circuit board and a plug, including TVs, computer monitors, computers and other e-waste. The material is slow shredded for safety and then the different commodities are separated from the separated from the shredder stream.

ERI is one of the largest e-cyclers in the country, processing more than 140 million pounds of e-waste annually.

I would be interested in seeing the separating system after the shredding process, is it manual or mechanical or a combination?
