County officials in Maryland called on high school students to organize a media-savvy promotion for recycling. A total of eight teams of students from six high schools produced video commercials dedicated to recycling.

According to The Capital Hometown Annapolis, the videos didn’t disappoint. Students illustrated recycling in their own terms, using a variety of scenarios including a game show, a love scene and even a rap video. All eight entries will see some airplay on the county government TV channel and online.

Jim Pittman, director of waste services for the county government, tells The Capital that all of the messages in the video were right on target. The winning entry came from Glen Burnie High School, and its tagline read: “Plant a seed of caring,” “Recycle for the future” and “Grow a better community.”
