In the UK tyres are classed as ‘controlled waste' so there is a Duty of Care placed on waste producers to dispose of old tyres responsibly and in an environmentally friendly way.
There are numerous ways of recycling old tyres as mentioned in the article including if thery are ground down / shredded they can be used for surfacing of sports and play areas, underlay for carpets, soles for shoes and more recently even for road construction.
There is some sort of irony that tyres are being used to repair the roads which they help wear out in the first place and visa versa.

Hi Trey,

Do you know of any grants that are available for New Jersey State or Federal for the recycling of scrap tires?

Thanks,
