Incandescent Bans Initiated in Europe, Set for U.S.

Sept. 1 was a landmark day for energy-efficiency in the EU, as a new law requires retailers to stop ordering incandescent light bulbs. Suspects Tear Down Part of U.S.-Mexico Border Fence for Scrap

Paperboard Manufacturers Up Costs Due to Inflation

North America's recycled paperboard manufacturers are increasing their prices in response to rising costs for raw material, despite the lowered demand for recycled paperboard in the current economy. Paper mills, including Strathcona Paper, Graphic Packaging, RockTenn, Sonoco, PaperWorks Industries, Caraustar, Newark Group and Ox Paperboard will be raising prices $40 per ton for shipments beginning this month. Calif. Judge Blocks Labeling Styrene as a Carcinogen

A Sacramento Superior Court judge prevented the state from labeling styrene as a "carcinogen" when used in styrene food packaging, according to the California Progress Report. Asphalt Company Saves $1M by Recycling

Almond & Son's Asphalt, based in Richland, Wash., found a way to save $1 million in difficult economic times. The company is recycling its own asphalt into new material and is now looking to recycle other businesses' asphalt with its new 1.5-acre facility located next to the Richland Landfill. Recovery Act to Fund $5M N.J. Superfund Cleanup

Commingled Recycling Forces U.K. to Import Glass

Recycling Services Extended to Lithium Batteries
