What a thought-provoking article by an obviously talented young writer. Ms. Hasler is undoubtedly the product of a caring community with outstanding history teachers. In all seriousness, there is much to be learned here for community leaders. Sustainability must be in all of our futures.

Wow, these communities take "eco-friendly" to a whole new level. What an interesting article, thank you!

So i guess what is being said is that an ecovillage given that theyre all somewhat different,
is hard to define or is somewhat selfdefining along the lines of the immediate environment.
ie: the environment or local ecozone defines what the community can become or is.
or at least this plays a greater role in the community then purely human semantics or considerations.
In that sense the envirornments value, values or rights? figure into the decision making process.
hmmm Does nature have values, well I suppose in a way, if we observe nature we can sort of decipher
a value system of sorts, if we transcend our own subjectivity.
