Some valuable tips here. I decluttered a lot of my life starting back late last summer. (I still have a stack of old phone books in the back seat of my car from that little venture that I'd like to recycle, but I have no idea where to take them.) I took most of that clutter (several large trash bags' worth) to my local transfer station.

I have two (2) programmable thermostats in my house, and neither one cost anywhere NEAR $115.00. They're not THAT expensive. Most of the ones I've seen at Home Depot and Lowe's cost in the range of $50-$60, and even less than that, if you hit a sale. In the summer, I don't have A/C, I use fans, and I've installed CFs in all my light fixtures that are used for more than 15 minutes at a time.

As for composting, I don't have a garden, so I don't need to compost. I use very little compostable material, anyway, so, even if I did garden, composting just wouldn't be practical for me.

Phooey! I'm not all that physically active, at least not in the bad-weather months, and I don't pay anywhere NEAR $1,500.00 in medical costs annually, that's because I usually avoid going to a doctor unless I'm REALLY sick, which is ALMOST never.

I don't barbecue, but if I DID, sorry, but I'd go with charcoal. It's a flavor thing. Also, with charcoal, you don't have to worry about the possibility of an explosion the way you do with a tank of propane.

Great tips for spring. I'm thinking the decluttering (is that even a word?) will go a long way in motivating me to do the rest!

Hi Amanda, thank you for sharing this very useful tips on how we could reduce energy consumption and money this spring. Another great idea to save energy is through the use of window tints. While most window films are for reducing solar heat gain in the summer, low-e films both block summer heat and improve winter heat retention. Having windows tinted could save money on electric bills, at the same time it lessen the carbon emission in our atmosphere which is very crucial in preventing further harm humans and the environment. Reputable site such as www.TintBuyer.com informs consumers about the relevant facts on window tints such as type of tints, quotations and will help you locate the best professional tinter near your area.
