Resources for Electronics Recycling in High Demand From Consumers

LAS VEGAS – E-waste, and what to do with it, is a hot topic. Around the country, states have enacted e-cycling legislation, and, as seen through the searches on the Earth911 Recycling Directory, consumers (especially you, our faithful readers) are asking – loudly – what do to with their end-of-life tech.

Of more than 240 products with recycling solutions in the Earth911 Recycling Directory, electronics top the list for the most sought-after products. In 2010, the category pulled in 23 percent of all recycling searches.

“This year, we have seen a 48 percent increase in e-cycling searches in our Recycling Directory,” says Corey Lambrecht, president of Earth911.

“Consumers are looking for local and easy-to-access recycling programs for their electronics, because they know that even their most outdated gadgets don’t belong in the trash. Earth911 works to ensure that its e-cycling data is regularly updated, as rules change rapidly and vary state to state.”

To address this demand, Earth911 will work as the Official Green Media Partner of the 2011 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) to provide coverage of sustainable innovations in technology and e-cycling efforts, as well as expert knowledge and resources to CES through video and editorial contribution.
