PHOTOS: Great American Cleanup Kicks Off in Times Square

On Thursday, New Yorkers flocked to Times Square to celebrate local volunteerism with Keep America Beautiful. On hand to kick off the 2011 Great American Cleanup were Miss America 2011 Teresa Scanlan, honorary New York volunteers, performers from the Broadway musical “Mamma Mia” and teen hip hop artist J. Xavier. Running through May 31, the Great American Cleanup is the nation’s largest community improvement program.
