Across the country, thousands of college students are getting ready to move out from their dorms and residence halls. During the excitement of upcoming summer breaks and the end to stressful semesters, sustainability can get tossed out like last year’s statistics book.
Earth911 caught up with representatives from Arizona State University, now in its third year of a “Ditch the Dumpster” program to reduce moveout waste. Last year, the university collected more than 34,000 pounds of materials for recycling or reuse, and this year the goal is to more than double that intake to 75,000 pounds. Watch how they’re getting it done.
