4. Mix up a creative cocktail

Fruit and vegetable-infused liquors add some spunk to your favorite cocktails, but they can cost big bucks at the store. Why pay the price when you can mix some up yourself using scraps you’d otherwise throw away?
Just place peels, scraps or rinds into a bottle of clear liquor – vodka usually works best. Allow your concoction to steep for at least two weeks in a cool, dry place, and it’s ready to enjoy.
While you may be tempted to think that fruit peels are the way to go, veggie-infused liquors can be the base for some very cool cocktails. Try vodkas steeped with cucumber, jalapeno or celery scraps for Bloody Marys, or infuse rum with cilantro stems or other fresh herbs for your next Mojito.
