Don’t forget about recycling just because you’re away from home. When you pick up a can of cola, resist the urge to toss it in the trash at the next gas station, and spend a few extra minutes finding a recycling bin instead.

Designate a washable, reusable tote or paper bag for recyclables in your car. And stockpile all your plastics, paper and cans there until you find an appropriate receptacle.

Most hotels offer recycling but think ahead to be sure. When pre-planning your trip, check out our tips on finding an eco-friendly hotel with all the green amenities. If you still can’t find a bin, we’ve got you covered. A few quick clicks through Earth911’s iRecycle® app on your smartphone will help you find nearby recycling options on the road.
