Noticed the green peacock at the bottom of your television screen? It’s NBC Green Week, and TV personalities are touting the motto, “You don’t have to do a lot to do a lot.”
This year, NBCUniversal is tackling our favorite daily habit: the coffee break. If everyone used reusable mugs instead of disposable cups, 9 million trees would be saved each year. Green is Universal-branded coffee carts in New York, as well as select coffee shops in Los Angeles and Chicago, will dispense free coffee in reusable mugs from Nov. 14-18.
Not in those cities? You can still participate! NBCUniversal’s “Mugs Save Trees” program calls on viewers and readers to upload a picture of them with their favorite reusable mug to the Green is Universal Facebook page for chance to win a custom mug signed by an NBC talent. One grand prize winner will be chosen to win a trip for four to Universal Hollywood.
Earth911 is also getting involved in the initiative. Tweet this story, and you’ll be entered to win a $25 NBCUniversal Gift Card (don’t forget to mention @Earth911 in your tweet!). We’ll be randomly picking a winner on Friday, Nov. 18. Good luck!
