The University of Vermont (UVM), which received an “A” on last year’s College Sustainability Report Card, wants to help other colleges and universities green their operations with the launch of its new online Sustainable Campus Innovation certificate program.

The new training program kicks off in March, but UVM announced this week that registration is currently open for operations staff, administrators, students and others at higher learning institutions who want to take a leadership role in their campus’ sustainability efforts.

In a series of three eight-week courses, participants will learn a range of real-world skills including how to implement operational practices that save money and conserve natural resources, how to incorporate sustainability into the academic curriculum and how to harness the school’s green reputation to boost enrollment of eco-minded students.

Powered by the online education provider University Alliance, the certificate program features streaming video lectures with 24/7 access, as well as live chat rooms, discussion boards and email to connect instructors with students.
