All about Pisces

Pisces is a water sign in the Zodiac represented by two fish swimming in opposite directions. It is the most sensitive of the 12 signs and is noted for kindness, shyness and artistic creativity, according to the astrology experts at Dell Horoscope Magazine. Famous Pisces include Al Gore, Charles Barkley and Justin Bieber.

Make your traits green

1. Compassion

One of the most common Pisces traits is the desire to take care of everyone else. Use your compassionate nature to help out the planet and your community by doing some volunteering this month.

Start by visiting your town or municipality’s website to view a full list of upcoming city-sponsored cleanups, tree plantings and community beautification projects. Nothing striking your fancy? Your local Keep America Beautiful affiliate has an events calendar chock full of ways to get involved.

And when in doubt, you can’t go wrong by lending a helping hand with reuse initiatives. Contact your local Habitat for Humanity ReStore, Goodwill or another thrift shop or second-hand store in your area, and ask about volunteering to sort donated goods.

2. Creativity

Noted for artistic talent, it’s not uncommon for a Pisces to think outside the box. Famous Pisces artists range from Michelangelo to Auguste Renoir to Ansel Adams. So, if you haven’t discovered your hidden gift for the arts, try one of the reuse projects in Earth911′s crafts library to get those creative juices flowing!

Choose from projects that turn magazine pages into chic end tables, plastic bottles into stunning lamp shades or old radiator covers into stylish vases. Getting crafty with recyclables helps spur artistic inspiration, and you’ll also be keeping a useful item out of the landfill.

3. Trustworthiness

Pisces are known for their honesty, reliability and trustworthiness. So, your friends likely value your opinion and may even ask you for advice. Use your position as trusted confidant to help your social circle go green by sharing eco-conscious facts, tips and ideas.

4. Escapism

Pisceans tend to retreat when the world becomes too overwhelming. Rather than heading to the mall or that posh new restaurant, indulge in a night alone with your thoughts by planning an at-home retreat – or better yet, head outside to commune with Mother Nature.

The next time you feel your homebody instincts kicking in, use our recipes library to prepare a tasty meal at home, pamper yourself with a DIY spa treatment or plan a weekend-long staycation for a little more alone time.

And remember: you don’t have to be at home to get your weekly dose of “you” time. Take a long walk to clear your thoughts, relax with a book in a local park or do a little birdwatching while you bike a trail in your area. Spending time outdoors helps you remember why protecting the planet is so important, and you’ll also cut back on energy use in your home.
