PHOTOS: 1 Beach, Litter from 42 Countries
Artist Alejandro Durán traveled to the shores of Sian Ka’an, Mexico’s largest federally-protected reserve, to document the ongoing plastic pollution problem in his series “Washed Up.” Over many visits starting in February 2010, Durán built color-based, site-specific sculptures. Durán has identified products washed ashore from 42 nations on six continents.
