Recycling Program Services
Trey Granger
Senior Waste Stream Analyst
Trey has been with Earth911 since 2007, with a variety of roles including writer/editor for Earth911.com, inbound/outbound customer service agent, data acquisition management and sales/marketing. Through these different roles, he has developed a strong working knowledge of solid waste and recycling availability in the U.S., which he currently utilizes in communication with local recycling officials, manufacturers and consumers looking to learn about recycling, as well as those seeking Earth911′s Recycling Availability Reports.
Trey serves as a liaison between the Earth911 Recycling Program Services team and other departments looking to utilize this information for public communications. He is able to answer questions such as “What level of recycling availability exists for product X?” based on familiarity with the 130,000 listings in the database that powers the Earth911 Recycling Directory and relationships established and maintained in the recycling community.
He has a background in corporate cause marketing and communications along with experience in numerous forms of media around the U.S., including White House Special Events coverage for CBS News in Washington, D.C. He holds a degree in Broadcast Journalism from Syracuse University.
Matthew Ehlers-Kohlbeck
Service Coordinator Supervisor
Matthew looks forward every day to spending time with the talented and diverse team of service coordinators he is honored to work with at Earth911. Helping his team tackle the endless task of seeking out and updating every recycling and proper disposal location in North America is a motivating, and often a fun, challenge for Matthew.
He works daily to make certain that the Earth911 database continues to be a valuable resource to communities at large, as well as “local experts.” Matthew accomplishes this by constantly improving the auditing and research methods his team uses to update everything in the directory multiple times each year. Matthew comes to Earth911 with 7 years of experience managing databases and customer service for various non-profits. While working at the Phoenix Zoo, he helped to create and establish a comprehensive, environmentally friendly policy still growing today.
Matthew, his wife and his wild/hilarious/charming son, and their 150 pound supposedly great (but more or less “OK”) Dane are avid outdoor adventurists and explorers and make an effort camp several times a year. He also enjoys playing piano, reading and watching anything on film. He considers himself a lifetime learner of anything he can study, which lead to a number of different pursuits in college, finally resulting in a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Arizona State University. Recently, Matthew’s family was able to purchase their dream home and feel privileged to own and take care of what they consider a treasure of a home built in 1930.

Carrie is a Licensed Massage Therapist who had been working in the field for almost 5 years. She decided she needed a break from helping people heal and that Mother Earth needed some therapy, too. Earth911 was the perfect fit for her, considering that sustainability is a passion of hers. She has always been an advocate of recycling and reusing. During her time as assistant manager for a restaurant where she worked for for over 7 years, she was the recycling coordinator in charge of making sure all materials that could be recycled weren’t trashed – even when she had to load her car up daily with materials and drive them to be recycled.
Carries is also a big fan of junk yards and thrift stores. Her biggest passion is turning “junk” in to mixed media and sculpture art pieces. If she could, Carrie would weld all day long. Carrie went to The Metropolitan Arts Institute where her love for art and music blossomed. Her favorite class there was Sculpture. Her favorite materials to work with are metal, wood and anything she finds that she can be turned into something new.
She also loves to write and play music. She plays guitar, bass guitar and all forms of hand drums (in particular, the djembe). Carrie is now working towards a Masters is Social Work with a minor in Art therapy. She is planning on opening a non-profit organization geared towards helping homeless youth get back on their feet, where she will be using holistic and art therapy techniques.
