• If you’re going to accept gift boxes from stores, ask if they are made from recycled materials and if they are recyclable. Many popular retailers, such as Nordstrom, have recyclable boxes and bags.
• Keep gift boxes for storing items around the house. For example, the long, flat boxes that traditionally accompany clothing are great for storing winter sweaters during warmer seasons, since hangers can damage their shape.
• You can recycle old cereal boxes by making your own gift boxes. These paperboard boxes are a delight when a ribbon is added for the finishing touch!
