As part of Earth911’s Earth Day Giveaway, you can enter win these prizes with just a tweet! Entering is easy: Simply tweet the tips of the day by clicking on the blue bird at the top of our special Earth Day section. That’s it!
On Thursday, you may be chosen to win one of the many awesome prizes available. Here’s a taste of what you could nab:
SunChips Home Composting Starter Kit – Looking to kick off your Earth Day celebrations with a lesson in composting? Look no further than SunChips who is contributing an Automatic Compost Bin to get you started. What do delicious chips and composting have to do with one another, you may ask? SunChips recently launched the world’s first 100 percent compostable chip bag made from plants, so it is designed to fully break down in about 14 weeks when placed in a hot, active compost bin or pile. You can achieve this environment easily with the Automatic Compost Bin, which works inside your home to process up to 120 pounds of food waste per month – and don’t forget to toss your empty, compostable SunChips bags in there! Mmm… tasty.
Call2Recycle Eco-Comfort Mouse and Eco-Light Rechargeable Light – Nab some great green gear contributed by Call2Recycle, the only free rechargeable battery and cell phone collection program in North America. The HP Wireless Eco-Comfort Mouse utilizes a PVC-free design made with more than 30 percent recycled plastic; the packaging is 76 percent recycled material and recyclable itself (as is the mouse!). You could also win an Eco-Lite Rechargeable Power Failure Light with Li-Ion batteries. The Eco-Lite incorporates energy-sipping LEDs and rechargeable batteries for a low-impact way to light the night when the power is out. We love the incorporation of rechargeables into both of these gadgets!
DisneyNature’s EARTH DVD – Contributed by the soon-to-be released DisneyNature OCEANS movie, premiering on Earth Day, EARTH is a beautiful film covering the lives of three different families: polar bears, whales and elephants. Premiering Earth Day 2009, EARTH garnered a record-breaking opening weekend for a nature documentary, resulting in the planting of more than 2.7 million trees in Brazil’s Atlantic Forest. This year, a similar program, “See OCEANS, Save Oceans,” is running, in which Disneynature will make a contribution to The Nature Conservancy to save coral reefs in honor of every guest who sees OCEANS during opening week. As of last week, almost 400,000 advance tickets had already been sold, resulting in more than 790 acres of protected marine area in The Bahamas. Check it out if you can – who doesn’t like cute little hatchling sea turtles, for crying out loud?
