Found in everything from skin treatments and household cleaners to dietary supplements, essential oils have loads of beneficial uses around the house. But why shell out your hard-earned dollars at the health food store when you can whip up a batch of natural essential oil yourself?
As you may imagine, making essential oil is a multi-step process that takes several days to complete. That said, the hands-on workload is pretty minimal (most of the time is spent drying your peels and steeping your oil).
As an added bonus, this concoction is virtually free. As Masterman points out, orange peels usually end up in the compost bin anyway, and this is a useful way to repurpose them. The only real cost is the vodka, and a cheap one will do the trick (don’t worry, the alcohol evaporates before your oil is completed).
