Frequently Asked Questions
Can I reuse my inkjet cartridge? If so, where do I get it refilled?
Can I turn in used inkjet cartridges to charities or schools for fundraisers?
Yes. Cartridges for Kids is a program that allows a charity or school to collect cartridges and receive money in return. Other nonprofits such as Recycle4Vets collect ink cartridges to specifically benefit veterans.
Is recycling an inkjet cartridge better than reusing it?
If you want to create less waste, it’s a good idea to reuse your inkjet cartridge, since then no new plastic will need to be created. The cost-effectiveness of refilling cartridges is the subject of continuing debate, however, and inkjet cartridges can typically be reused only a few times, not indefinitely. Refill your inkjet cartridge if you find that is the best option for you, and then be sure to recycle it when it reaches the end of its life, since remanufacturing plastic cartridges requires 80% less energy than making new plastic.
