Do you think about the waste that a product will create before you make a purchase? This is precycling, the step you make before recycling — it helps you avoid waste in the first place. Consider these questions before you make a purchase and you’ll be on your way to effective precycling:
- Is a product made from recycled materials? Is the product itself recyclable at the end of its life?
- How much packaging is there? Is the packaging easily recyclable?
- Do you really need this product? Do you have something you could reuse or repurpose instead?
