“The climate crisis is a cost-of-living crisis, because climate disasters are driving up costs for households and businesses,” Simon Stiell, Executive Secretary of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change told attendees at the U.N.’s COP 29 in November, 2024. In fact, prices are rising for many staples and luxury foods. Coffee prices, which are impacted by warming climates in major coffee-growing regions, hit historically high prices in January 2024.
