young man and woman plogging

The third annual TrashDash started on September 1 and runs through the month of September. A Keep America Beautiful event, TrashDash brings neighbors together to go plogging, an activity that combines jogging with picking up litter. Enjoy the benefits of exercise while supporting your community and the environment.

Keep America Beautiful asks, “Will you help clean up your local community? Do you want to be a part of the movement to transform littered spaces into beautiful places? Do you want to put an end to litter?” If you answered yes, register for TrashDash and join in to keep our communities and waterways clean and safe.

You can plan your own route and participate when convenient. And if you’re not a jogger, don’t worry, everyone can help! Just grab a trash bag or bucket, gloves, and a litter picker if you have one, and pick up litter in your neighborhood or a nearby park, trail, or beach.

When you’ve finished your route, be sure to separate your trash and recyclables. Be aware that wishcycling does more harm than good, so sort your recycling according to local guidelines. The rest goes in the trash.

And be sure to share your experience on Instagram; tag @KeepAmericaBeautiful and include #DoBeautifulThings and #TrashDash.

All ages are welcome. Participants are advised to follow federal, state, and local COVID-19 safety guidelines.
