Looking for greener cleaning products? Be sure to avoid these ingredients commonly found in household cleaners: formaldehyde, chloroform, 1,4-dioxane, and fragrance.
Why? Formaldehyde is a known carcinogen, and chloroform and 1,4-dioxane are suspected carcinogens. A single fragrance can contain hundreds of different ingredients, including toxic and hazardous volatile organic compounds. Manufacturers aren’t required to list the ingredients that make up a fragrance because they are considered trade secrets.
