We can learn and change in response to our environment, but humans have a bad habit of making poor decisions. Author Jared Diamond suggests that people are unique among all animals on Earth: “Perhaps our greatest distinction as a species is our capacity, unique among animals, to make counter-evolutionary choices.” Maybe it is a good time to rethink that dubious difference?
