Confession: I am the poster child for bad allergies. Sinus pressure and headaches? Guilty as charged. It’s not pretty, trust me. When either strike — and sometimes they strike together — relief can’t … come … fast enough. I’ll admit that I’ve tried many over-the-counter relief options, some with better results than others. But, I’ve also found great comfort with these natural DIY sinus and allergy relief recipes that we’ve outlined in this episode of Earth911TV.  You, too, can experience relief — naturally. Now that’s heady stuff!

DIY Sinus and Allergy Relief

Breathe Jar

Place cotton balls in a jar. Drip essential oils onto cotton balls. Close jar lid. To use, simply remove the lid and inhale with nose over the jar, taking deep breaths. Keep the lid on when not in use.

Bath Soak

  • 1 glass jar with lid
  • 1 cup Epsom salt
  • 1/2 cup baking soda
  • Essential oils:
    • 10 drops peppermint oil
    • 10 drops eucalyptus oil
    • 1 drop green food coloring (optional)

Place all ingredients in glass jar. Stir or shake well. To use, simply add 1 to 2 tablespoons to a warm bath. Keep the lid on when not in use.

Allergy Relief Balm

  • 1 empty tube or jar
  • Glass bowl
  • 1/2 cup coconut oil
  • 1 tablespoon beeswax
  • Essential oils:
    • 20 drops lavender oil
    • 10 drops tea tree oil
    • 8 drops eucalyptus oil
    • 5 drops peppermint oil

Melt beeswax in a glass bowl for 2 to 3 minutes, adding coconut oil to melt toward the end. Add the essential oils and stir well. Pour into empty lip balm tubes, glass jars or containers. To use, simply massage into temples, forehead, neck, and chest.
