Recycling services have real value that has long been underestimated because they are bundled with waste removal services. Bernie Lee, commodities research analyst at the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries talks with Earth911 about his recent Scrap Magazine editorial, “The Service, Value, and Labor of Recycling.” Perhaps, Lee suggests, if we broke down the various costs of recycling, we’d see more clearly the benefit of spending money now to ensure that manufacturers plan for responsible disposal of consumer goods at their end of life.
