At the beginning of 2018, China implemented a ban on imports of many scrap and recyclable materials that the United States (and other countries) was exporting, citing a high rate of contamination in the materials. Since that ban went into effect, U.S. recycling programs and recycling companies have struggled with what to do with our curbside recycling.
